TITLE: Phoenix's Life
PERPETRATOR: Genkai Lady
SUE-O-METER: (bad)

FULL NAME: Harry Potter
SPECIES: Human/Wizard
HAIR: not mentioned
EYES: not mentioned
MARKINGS: none mentioned.
POSSESSIONS: CAPS-LOCKS rage.

ORIGIN: A re-write of the end of OotP. Mainly the office scene with Dumbledore. Inspired by Bon Jovi's "It's My Life".
CONNECTIONS TO CANON: Is Harry Potter. Is friends with Ron and Hermione.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: Can turn into a Phoenix.

NOTES: This made me laugh more than it should have. I want to see the last sentence nominated for "Most Quotable Line".

SAMPLE:

"YOU HAVE NO IDEA! WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT LOSING YOUR PARENTS AND THEN YOUR GODFATHER BECAUSE OF THE SAME DARK WIZARD! YOU THINK YOU KNOW BUT YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY!" Harry picked up the ancient table standing beside Dumbledore’s desk and hurled it out the nearest window. He couldn't stand it anymore, he just wanted it all to end. He grabbed the nearest object, a wizarding globe, and threw it at the wall. It smashed into a thousand pieces.

"Harry-" Dumbledore began, but didn't finish because Harry had just whipped out his wand and was pointing it at him. Dumbledore cooly smiled as if it was a joke.

"I've had enough. I'm leaving," Harry said, his voice shaking with rage. He backed to the window and peered down at the water below. Taking one last look at the now shocked Dumbledore, he jumped.

The rest seemed to pass in slow motion. Harry could hear Dumbledore shouting after him. He could see Ron and Hermione, standing at the lake front, staring open mouthed up at his falling body. The rest of the student body pointed up at him waiting for his body to plunge into the eternal darkness of the water. But Harry's body skimmed the surface of the lake and then, in a true blaze of glory, he transformed into a magnificent phoenix. And some say, as he soared into the sun set, that he yelled "IT'S MY LIFE" before he retreated into the clouds to never return.

And is anyone else thinking of Gwen Stefani right now?

Haha. Pwnd! with Greek Mythology. Niiice.
It's one of my favourite stories.
"Let's make wings out of wax, son."
"Ok dad. They'll work, I'm sure. My body and the wax will become one."
"Just don't fly too close to the sun."
"IT'S MY LIFE!"

The only thing worse than this? When I talk about some random 80's rockstar and nobody knows who they are. This happened once with Bon Jovi, but it was some other kid talking about it, and the sheer stupidity of the class I was in overwhelmed me to the point where I *almost* went CAPSLOCKOFRAGE!chaos-sama on their asses. Needless to say, my faith in humanity died that day.

Now, some might think that this fic is BAD MEDICINE and I know you are probably WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE for writing such tripe, but maybe I'm JUST OLDER, because I'd rather be SHOT THROUGH THE HEART then read anything else.

That's right Suethor, I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU.

I get it. You're MISUNDERSTOOD and the music speaks to you and that's ALL THAT REALLY MATTERS. Just BLAME IT ON THE LOVE OF ROCK AND ROLL.

You need SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN.

So, when you feel like you're LIVIN' ON A PRAYER, just KEEP THE FAITH, NEVER SAY GOODBYE, RAISE YOUR HANDS and ALWAYS remember that you were BORN TO BE MY BABY!

Rock on, Suethor. Rock on.

Dear Suethor,

What was the point in writing this? The whole point of writing a story in Western tradition is to move the characters and develop them from something and improve them. Only in Eastern writing do you get endings where the character doesn't change. And it's only in a combo of Eastern-Western thinking like this that you get such a dissatisfying story like this. Where the emotional development growth potential is actually there but falls flat. If you're going to include a high pitched emotional ending like this do something with it and move the character to a point where he/she changes. I.E. Harry was already a CAPSLOCK!personality... move him out of it. Don't betray it by switching styles and moving into the Eastern fashion of telling stories, where the only point is to tell what happens to the character, not who the character becomes. Combining Eastern and Western writing is very dangerous to begin with, but when done as poorly as this it make those who attempt to do so with skill look bad.

~Salamon2
